I need help fixing my dad's computer.

He was using the internet, typed in a web address, hit enter then the screen goes black because the monitor went into sleep mode.

When he tried to turn it back on the monitor still refused to "wake up".

A few hours later I powered on the computer and everything appears to be fine.

Any idea what is going on?

Operating system is XP.
