Hey everyone. Im looking for a little help :\

My internet connection has been somewhat...unreliable for the past year or so; but as of late its gotten worse.

Every now and then Ill be surfing the web and my internet will go out at the drop of a hat. I try renewing my IP adress as that usually fixed it(At one point in time) but now it cant renew. I reset tcp/ip as well to no avail. So I figure it was my ISPs fault.

I ask them to ping my modem and they say its all good on their side, so I figure it has to be my computer. I try dropping my firewall, disabling any AntiVirus software anything I can think of that might be interfering with it; and of course nothing works.

So I give up for a few hours or go to bed if its late. Anyways when I go check it back in a few hours(sometimes as many as 10hrs~ highest was 24 hours) I magically get my access back. Now this only happened once a month for a while, but lately its been more frequent and its starting to really annoy me.

Anyways I figured I should ask people for ideas of what it could be. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Side note~:
Windows XP OS
D-Link DSL-300G adsl modem
Not wireless

If you need any more specific info Ill try my best to get it for ya.

Hey Aero375 -- welcome to G2G :)

The next time you lose your Internet connection, please perform steps 1 & 2. You can follow steps 3 & 4 at any time.

Step 1 - Connectivity test:
  • Press Start
  • Select Run
  • Type cmd and press OK
  • In the new command prompt window, please type the following commands (*Note: each ping will take approximately 10 seconds to complete; wait for the command prompt to return before you type the next one. Also, the single '>' and double '>>' are intentional; please type the commands exactly as they appear):
    • ipconfig /all > C:\results.txt
    • route print >> C:\results.txt
    • ping 127.0.0.1 >> C:\results.txt
    • ping google.com >> C:\results.txt
    • ping 209.85.171.100 >> C:\results.txt
  • Once the above commands have completed, navigate to your C: drive and open the text file results.txt -- please copy/paste the contents of this file into your next response.
Step 2 - Attempt to release and renew your IP:
  • Click Start, select Run, type cmd and press OK
  • In the new command prompt window, please type the following commands:
  • ipconfig /release
  • ipconfig /renew
*Note: If the above commands generate an error, please post the exact error.
Step 3 - Event Log/Viewer errors/warnings:
  • Click Start, select Run, type eventvwr and press OK
  • In the new window, look under the System log for any errors and/or warnings. If you find any, please post the relevant heading, along with the details inside by double clicking on the error/warning (denoted by a red 'x' or a yellow '!', respectively), and then copy/pasting the information from within.
*Note: You'll mainly be looking for DHCP and TCP/IP errors/warnings.
Step 4 - Post an ipconfig when you have an active (working) Internet connection:
  • Click Start, select Run, type cmd and press OK
  • In the new command prompt window, type ipconfig /all > C:\ipconfig.txt
  • Navigate to your C: drive and open the text file ipconfig.txt -- please copy/paste the contents of this file into your next response.
Thanks,
- Dan

Ok I have a ton of errors; a majority say 'Service control manager'; roughly 10 say dhcp; a few w32Time; and one sr.

As for warning a lot of: W32Time, tcpip, and E100B.

Note: There are many(near 100) SCM's, Several dhcp, as well as E100B; but to keep it short Ill pick one of each since all that varies is the time.
