AOE II and Broadband

just got adsl and now cant get an online game at the msn zone with aoe II or conquerers expansion. worked fine with dial up but not any more.
contacted phone company and they dont support games but said it is probably a port proplem. I opened ports 28000 and 29100 as recommended by zone help. but still no joy. (phone company said all ports are open anyway on adsl d-link 302g modem). I searched the microsoft forum and found no help for this.
I have compaq presario < 18 months old and xp home sp1
any clues boys and girls???
