Hello there, I recently had my computer infected with the above trojan. I haven't got a clue on how this thing got here and how to remove it. This blue screen is a real eye sore! I still get a range of popups but have managed to stop my homepage from changing to qfind.com. I have been reading the other posts on this thing and wonder if I should follow other steps as printed in other topics or weither or not I need a separate guide of instructions? I have also been downloading the other programs you advise shortly after joining you guys such as CWS Shredder, windows xp update 1 etc. All scans etc have all shown up nothing so i think im ready for more guided advice if possible?? Here is my HijackThis log to date:Logfile of HijackThis v1.98.2

We can definitely help you, but first you need to help us. The first step in this process is to apply Service Pack 1a for Windows XP. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time.
Apply the update, reboot, and post a fresh Hijack This log.

hello again, have tried downloading the sp1 but a message appeared about an invalid product key. Windows was already installed when I bought the computer from a friend so I guess he installed his own copy of windows? Are there any ways around this?

Did he purchase it from a manufacturer? Did he have a shop or someone else work on it before he sold it to you? Let me know that before I get back with you again.

hasn't got a clue where the original disk is

Many computers aren't sold with the windows 98/2000/xp disc. I know some of mine have included it, while others haven't. I think a friend told me that many are being included with them now.

Can't get in touch with him at the moment, he likes to build computers in his spare time so Im sure would have purchased it from the manufacturers.

Really don't know exactly why. Malware, most likely. Sorry about all this. Good luck. :tazz:
