I still cannot get to the internet with IE7 or IE8 but can with firefox. I have tried recommended things from other posts and a no go. This is what I get when I ping:

Pinging www.l.google.com [74.125.53.104] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 74.125.53.104: bytes=32 time=47ms TTL=245

Reply from 74.125.53.104: bytes=32 time=46ms TTL=245

Ping statistics for 74.125.53.104:

Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),

Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:

Minimum = 46ms, Maximum = 47ms, Average = 46ms

Help please. I did ping www.google.com and it came back with www.l.google.com

I have the same problem with trying to open IE 7 or update programs (i.e. malwarebytes)The odd thing is my Firefox works fine. It all started when I had some how obtained a slew of trojan/viruses that screwed up my taskbar and my IE would constantly have pop-ups every hour while I was using Firefox. I used Spybot, Malwarebytes and VundoFix to get rid of the problems. Well I apparently had a large amount of trojans and the problems that seemed to go away until I tried to open IE. It appears my iexplorer.exe is corrupt or something because it says the following when I open up IE:

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.

Close IE.
Go Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools, and click on Internet Explorer (no add-ons). Same thing?

Broni,

I did NOT deliberately try to Hijack as you say someone else's topic. I figured since I had the same problem I could post my issues but evidently not. I guess I will create my own topic so I can get a helpful response.

Thanks

I was hit with a virus, MSvirus 2009. I am still waiting for someone to help me with my logs....

But after I ran AVG etc. my IE would not connect to the internet. Firfox would, updates to the malware programs would not connect to the internet.

in IE, in tools, Internet Options,Connections, Lans Settings, I UNCHECKED everything. Re loaded IE and it connected and my malware programs would update themselves.

I am using a router if that is important.

What do you mean start my own topic? I do have my own topic started. I was just offering a suggestion to this topic for a solution. I asked it I could offer a suggetion and the reponse I read was SURE. I am very sorry if I broke the rules here. But the fix I offered worked for me!!
