Installed software won't run

I am runnning a gateway dual -64. I have seeral installed software that show up in programs and also have shortcuts , but when I try to open them they don't respond. Most of my software does. Is there a registry issue or a firewall issue or what?

First of all try right clicking on the shortcut then click on properties
make sure it is showing the right Target and Start in
If that is right then try deleting shortcuts and recreating them
It may have just been a corrupted install
