Ok I see where I requested the following in post 6 but we got going on the memtest issue and never stated if you did this or not
Also try following 123Runners suggestion in his post 30
It appears Unknowing I had you get the wrong memtest file
Please click on
Start>>Run>>Type in msconfig>>>press enter
Now click on Startups
Then uncheck everything and restart.
If system boots correctly and is running smoothly and faster then we have a startup problem
Try going back into msconfig and check one item and reboot
Keep doing that till you have found the problem or all are finally checked.
Lets see what you have in your startup services area
Please click on
Start>>Run>>Type in msconfig>>>press enter
Now click on Services
Click on Hide All Microsoft Services
Then uncheck everything and restart.

Post back with the results

I am attaching Memtest86 iso. Go Here to download the file. Please do the following after downloading it
). When it downloads, it will be labeled "memtest86+2.11.iso"
if you don't have a burning program that will burn .ISO files get burncdcc in my signature below.
NOTE...do not put a blank cd in until burncdcc opens the tray for you
1. Start BurnCDCC
2. Browse to the ISO file you want to burn on cd/dvd ....in this case its memtest86.iso
3. Select the ISO file
4. click on Start
Make sure the bios is set for the cd drive as the first boot device
Put the cd in the cd drive and then boot your computer.
Run memtest for at least 2 hours
If it starts showing any errors during that time then you will have to replace the memory
If there are no errors after 2 hours press Esc and that will end the tests
We will then try other options

lets look in event viewer and see if anything resides there.
Go to start......control panel....administrative tools......event viewer
Expand the application log, security log, and system log. I do not expect anything in the security log, but it never hurts to look.
Look at the errors and warnings (if any) around the time of the freezing.
Post them here (if any).

Downloaded Memtest.
Same problem. No ISO contained within the file , only BOOT and MEMTEST IMG
As for posting logs , what info do you require? date , user , time?
Theres quite a few do you need them all?
Ive located the the one where the problem began.
Its a warning , user is Userenv.

If you downloaded the file I have on mediafire there is nothing there but a iso file to get.
As far as the log if the error is the same everytime then the last one that happened
complete line of the message
the line will include the following info
Warning Date Time Source Category Event User Computer
The computer line is not needed unless it is different then the other lines in the window

You should also double click on the warning to get the detailed description. What is contained there will also be useful.

Definetly no ISO.
Cut and paste won't work with the logs.
Laptop keeps freezing every 5 minuets.
Wow.Im ready to jump out the window , which wouldnt be wise as I live on the ground floor.
Thanks for all the help so far anyway.

123Runner, you have any ideals why downloading a ISO will do what OP is describing? No other files but the actual iso is all I uploaded. No zip no rar, just the iso file itself

I download the file as a zip
