Hello Everybody!

I just joined this site to try and get some answers about my new computer.

The other day I was looking something up on Google and when I clicked on a link my computer went crazy and said I was getting a virus!

I didn't know what to do. I clicked on a few things and eventually ended up shutting my computer down and restarting it.

After I restarted it, I ran a full sweep with my Webroot AntiVirus with Antispyware and sure enough a VIRUS showed up on my brand new computer. I quarantined it with my Antivirus and then deleted it.

I then ran ANOTHER full sweep with my AntiVirus and had a bunch of cookies on my computer! I quarantined them and then deleted them. Then the next day, I ran another sweep, more cookies, more deletes.

Today I ran a sweep and quarantined and deleted the cookies, then I signed off of the internet, signed off my computer, went to my girlfriends apt. and then came back home and ran another sweep. Guess what?

MORE COOKIES!!!!!

My questions are:

1. Do I still have a virus?

2. If I do have a virus, what do I do?

3. Are these cookies(See below) dangerous i.e. Can someone get my personal info?

4. Are these cookies just things that check out what kind of underwear I buy?

5. Are these cookies a necessary EVIL?

ANY HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED!!!!!!

Here is a list of COOKIES!:

atlas dmt cookie
yieldmanager cookie
advertising cookie
atwola cookie
zedo cookie
doubleclick cookie
specificclick cookie
webtrendslive cookie
trafficmp cookie

Once again, thanks to ANYONE who can help me out!! I have a Firewall and I have your basic internet connection through Verizon and have windows Vista if that makes any difference.

Help me out and I'll buy you some REAL cookies! ! ! ! ! ! !

Hi there and sorry for the delay. Firstly cookies are a fact of life like death and taxes they will never go away

Lets see what you have first

Download Rooter.exe to your desktop
  • Doubleclick it to start the tool.
  • A Notepad file containing the report will open, also found at %systemdrive%(usually C:)\Rooter.txt. Copy and paste it with your OTLI log.

THEN

  • Download OTListIt2 to your desktop.
  • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
  • When the window appears, underneath Output at the top change it to Minimal Output.
  • Check the boxes beside LOP Check and Purity Check.
  • Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
  • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTListIt.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTListIt2.
  • Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time, and post it with your next reply.
