I'd suggest a USB adapter for your old hard drive. Plug it into the new computer, take ownership of the files, then copy them over to the new computer via the USB port.

An adapter can be found on the internet for about $30 (US). I use this one: http://www.cooldrive...ndidehadr1.html

To take ownership in Vista, open up Windows Explorer as an Administrator.
Locate the folder that contains your files, right click on it and select Properties.
Select the Security tab, select the Advanced button, then select the Owner tab
Click on the Edit button
Left click once on your user name on the new computer
Place a checkmark in the box labelled "Replace owner on sub-containers and objects", then click on Apply
Click on OK until you've exited all of the dialogs.
