Hi, things have been going great thanks to one of your illustrious souls!! but now have homepaged hijacked, multiple R0, R1 reg's involved, able to slow it down, but returns...

...no other problems YET!!!

...have run Adaware, Spybot, Spyblaster, CWShredder, MS Antispy, Panda's antivirus....

...problem showed up when i removed Antivir antivirus and started running the Grissoft AVG product; Antivir was making it nearly impossible to run Adaware, etc...perhaps i changed to the wrong product...Antivir was clearly blocking attempts...

Here's my log...THANKS!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome back, Joshua!

Can I close your other thread now? I see you did not follow my instructions for getting Service Pack 2 - that was to help prevent this from happening! As well as my other recommendations! :tazz: If I help you again, will you promise to follow all of my instructions? ;)

Sorry...MAJOR problems trying to get SP2 involved...finally called one of my patients who's a MS exec and he said don't do it with the date i have on my XP?? does that make sense.... seems it's not a simple upgrade...that is to say, i can do it, but plan on significant down-time fixing problems that will arise....

...so i will be able to try another install of SP2 soon...will have a work project done and computer will be free to fail!!

...also, still unable to get Ewido to download, or rather to run after the download...ATTEMPTED TO FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS :tazz:

...nice to see you! joshua

and yes, please do close out other thread....although your expert advice certainly seems to have a few still checking it out...

You do realize we're going to have to disable MS anti-spyware right? Hopefully you won't have to uninstall it again. It's definitely not going to let you run the script below that I need!

* Please click this link to download Silent Runners.
* Save it to the desktop.
* Run Silent Runner's by doubleclicking the "Silent Runners" icon on your desktop.
* You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done yet, just let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)
* Once you receive the prompt "All Done!", double-click on the new text file on the desktop and copy that entire log and paste it here.

*NOTE* If you receive any warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run.

Nope...tried everything u suggested re uninstall....i believe i sent an update on that; problems with Windows Installer Service nor available from safe mode, etc.

...nope, still there...but was able to get both the Antivir and AVG products to run...

...say, i'm only half here...major health problems in family, i'm fine...but a bit distracted...

You already tried this?

Go to Start > All Program > Norton Anti-Virus - then click on "Uninstall Norton AntiVirus"

Click Remove, and then follow the on-screen prompts. Click Yes or "Yes to all" as needed. Restart the computer when prompted. If you did, we'll worry about it later. It's really a moot point right now lol

I think we posted at the same time, so I need you to disable MS A-S and Download Silent Runners (instructions in previous post).

Hi,...feels like old-times... :tazz:

disabled MSAntispy, still blocked SilentRunners, so removed it.

Now, message is: Windows Script Host is disabled on this machine, contact administrator...won't allow Silent to run...

Ah, yes, back to the good ol' days :tazz:

Download NoScript.exe to a folder on the hard disk.
Double-click the Noscript.exe icon. The Norton Script Disabler/Enabler appears.
If the WSH is currently disabled on the system, you will be prompted as to whether you want to enable it. To do so, click Enable, and then click OK.

...did that, No Script says it is currently Enabled and i left it that way...

and yes, i tried the uninstall...hmmmm, thought i messaged you about that in the last thread...said i was not administrator, then i think you told me to try safe mode, and to log on as the Administrator, not Owner or Dane....and i couldn't do that because it required a password...

...BUT ANYWAY...later for that...we've already been there on Norton...

Hey..banana..while u were out :tazz: ....i went searching on google re 103.nowfind and read a bit...lots of current entries including ours...

...check out www.helptogo.com/postt13685 its post #8 on the newfind problem...a guy apparently called it good when he used Panda's antivirus product...

...Did you catch that i was completely clean with Panda's Antivir running, but i thought i'd try the AVG product that you'd mentioned (u suggested both...i had both on the drive...was only running Antivir). Immediately after removing Panda's product, my problem with this started....

...my first thought is to simply reload it and go...my second thought is that i wonder if such a 'trusted' source could actually be the source of the problem...joshua

What do you mean?

You had Norton that didn't work so I suggested AVG or Antivir... In fact I said "If AntiVir is working no need to change it! "

I certainly hope you're not saying that I am the source of your problem :tazz: That's sure what it sounded like... ;)
