hmmm...you're not Panda...

Actually, i don't think that's what that sounded like....I removed a software product earlier today and my problem started so i was suggesting that it's interesting that someone else on a different site (helptogo.com) found that their problem was eliminated when they ran Panda's platinum product. My point is that it would seem that the Panda product eliminated the problem for someone and my problem started when i removed it.....

a) the Panda product is successful at solving this problem...

b) the Panda product (or its creators) 'creates' and 'solves' the problem...

anyway, i was NOT implying anything about you but i was suggesting that none of us can entirely trust software that we download.

I trust you completely.

But, on that note, i'mofftothehospital...last post tonight...Thank you so much, we made a little progress...joshua :tazz:

Seriously, you earned my trust and more...i mean that...and thank you, i'll be looking forward to it.

I was referring to the concept that programs implying assistance are actually the source of problems...the whole philosophy behind the 'Trojan Horse'......

but, do i feel that i could be naive enough to accidently download a 'trusted' product from an illegitimate source, you bet...i can certainly image someone altering a product....anyway, see you soon...i'm truly gone now...back on here around 7am my time ...it's 2am now...night!...

...PS...if anyone makes you cry, i'll help kiss away the tears :tazz:

Ok, Joshua, ya big flirt :tazz: I'm done ;)

You have a file running on startup from a temporary folder, and I never like files running from temp folders as they are rarely, if ever, legit. So this is what I need you to do, as I do not know what that file is:

CLICK THIS TO LINK TO BE SURE YOU CAN VIEW HIDDEN FILES

I need you to go here:
The Spy Killer Forum

*Click on "New Topic"
*Put your name, e-mail address, and this as the title: "C:\DOCUME~1\owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\delus.exe"
*Put a link to this geeks to go topic in the description box.
*Then next to the file box. at the bottom, click the "browse" button, then navigate to this file:

C:\Documents and Settings\owner\Local Settings\Temp\delus.exe

*Press "Open".
*Click "Post".

Then I need you to download Ad-Aware (if you don't have it).
Then, if you don't have Cleanup! Anymore - download it again - don't run it yet

Cleanup Download Link

Here is the link to the download Ad-Aware. If you already have it, then just update it, but don't run it yet.
Ad-Aware

Reboot into Safe Mode.

Reconfigure Ad-Aware for Full Scan as per the following instructions:
In the Ad-Aware main window, click on the gear icon at the top of the screen to open the preferences window. In the "General" window, make sure the following options are selected:
1) Automatically save log-file
2) Automatically quarantine objects prior to removal
3) Safe Mode (always request confirmation)

Click the "Scanning" button on the left-hand side and make sure the following options are selected:
1) Scan within archives
2) Scan active processes
3) Scan registry
4) Deep scan registry
4) Scan my IE Favorites for banned URLs
5) Scan my Hosts file

Please also click on "Select drives & folders to scan" and select your hard drive(s). Then click the "Advanced" button on the left-hand side and make sure all the options under "Log-file Detail Level" are selected. Next, click the "Tweak" button on the left-hand side. Click on "Scanning Engine" and make sure the following options are selected:
1) Unload recognized processes & modules during scanning
2) Obtain command line of scanned processes
3) Scan registry for all users instead of current user only

Click on "Cleaning Engine" and make sure the following options are selected:
1) Always try to unload modules before deletion
2) During removal, unload Explorer and IE if necessary
3) Let Windows remove files in use at next reboot
4) Delete quarantined objects after restoring

Finally, click on "Safety Settings" and make sure the following options are selected:
1) Automatically select problematic objects in results lists
2) Write-protect system files after repair (Hosts file, etc)

Click on "Proceed" to save the preferences. Then please click the "Start" button on the bottom left side to begin a scan. Select "Use custom scanning options" and then click "Next". Ad-Aware will then scan for malware. When it is finished, make sure any objects listed in RED are selected and click "Next" to remove the objects.

Then, while still in Safe Mode, run HijackThis and place a check next to the following items, if found, and click FIX CHECKED:

Run Cleanup!

Reboot into normal mode.

1.) Download The Hoster Press "Restore Original Hosts" and press "OK". Exit Program.

2.) Run this online virus scan (yes, Panda...I like them ;)):
ActiveScan

Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HiJackThis log.

Uh oh! I hope you like spending a lot of time with me :tazz:

You have a file somewhere on your computer that is driving 103.nowfind now we have to locate it.

Are you running ActiveScan??

*Open HijackThis.
*Click on "None of the above, just start the program"
*Click Config (bottom right)
*Click Misc Tools
*make sure that both boxes beside "Generate StartupList Log" are checked:

List all minor sections(Full)

and

List Empty Sections(Complete)

Click "Generate StartupList Log".
Click "Yes" at the prompt

It will produce a NotePad Page. I need you to copy the entire contents of that page and paste it here.

Yes, my dear :tazz: , i'd love to spend time with you....i can tell...however, i must go away for a bit....i will check back on the hour for a brief minute, but will be busy on other pc until about 6 pm, 12:15 here now...

Not a problem! I just meant time in general as this is a new one I've not seen yet.... So there are a couple of programs I need you to run and post the log from. Sooo glad ActiveScan didn't find anything.

Let me see what I want you to run...hmmm

Please click on the link below to download this program:
http://www.atribune....nloads/find.zip

*Right-click on your desktop and go to New > Folder - name it whatever you want.
*Download "Find.zip" to this folder. Make sure to Extract All Files!
*Double Click "Find.bat" and let it scan the PC, takes only seconds.
*Look back in the Folder you downloaded to and locate "Report.txt"
*Double Click "Report.txt" and Copy the contents of the log and paste it here. It's going to be a very short log.

Then, please download RKFiles from here:
http://skads.org/special/rkfiles.zip
Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode

Once in Safe Mode, please run RKFiles.bat. It may take a while. When it is finished a windows should appear with a log. Make sure the log is saved!

Restart your computer in normal mode, and please post the contents of the logfile, which should be at c:\log.txt.

Then please download DLLCompare from here:
http://downloads.sub.../DllCompare.exe
Save it to the desktop and run it. Click "Run Locate.com" to scan for DLL files. When the scan is finished, click "Compare". Finally, when that is complete, click "Make a Log of What Was Found". Please post the entire contents of the logfile here for me.
