hey guys, i posted my problem on the wrong forum, and was swiftly referred to here. I kept getting an error message popping up headed wscntfy.exe, saying 0x80000009 and something to do with not being able to read the memory. Did a search for the error and apparently its a virus. I ran malwarebytes which picked up 28 infections. It was able to delete them all bar one, which required the pc to be restarted. The pc boots up as normal but instead after the screen showing windows loading, it just shows a black screen. The same happens if i try to get into safe mode.

I Don't have an actual windows XP disk but instead the one which came with my e-machines pc, it has all the software that was already pre-installed on the computer. If i boot up the cd i only get two options:

1. Restore Windows XP
2. Boot to command prompt from cd-rom

the first option warns that it will delete everything on my pc and i'm not familiar with the second option. I have a few documents and photos which i would prefer not to lose.

I hope someone is able to help as this is extremely annoying. Thanks in advance if anyone can.
