Laptop crashed

I bought a gateway about 2 years ago and it was doing fine but I went to boot it up a couple days ago and it wouldn't go past the first Gateway screen and it just says please wait. I've taken out the hard drive and put it in my brothers laptop and it works fine so I know its not that. Does anybody have any ideas?

Did you try Safe Mode?

it won't load far enough for safe mode (when I get home I'll take a picture of it)
