Hello, I hope this is in the correct section.

I have always been able toplay Youtube videos without any problem until yesterday when I get the message
"Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player."

So I downloaded the latest version of flash player successfully but still cannot play Youtube.

I went into "Tools, internet options, security, custom level" and the Java VM was on "high safety" I have now clicked the radio button for "medium safety" but still canot play Youtube.

I am still able to play dailynation videos with no problem.

Any ideas?

I had this specific problem a while ago when I updated java. You might want to uninstall java and reinstall it using an older version. They provide older versions here. http://java.sun.com/products/archive/

Interesting, but I have not updated anything.
Monday it was working fine, Tuesday not.

I will wait to see if anyone has another suggestion, if not I will uninstall Jave and follow your link.

DO NOT INSTALL A OLDER VERSION OF JAVA. The older versions are vulnerable to attacks and infections.
First update your Flash Player

Second:

Please download JavaRa from the link in my signature below to your desktop and unzip it to its own folder

* Run JavaRa.exe, pick the language of your choice and click Select. Then click Remove Older Versions.
* Accept any prompts.
* Open JavaRa.exe again and select Search For Updates.
* Select Update Using Sun Java's Website then click Search and click on the Open Webpage button. Download and install the latest Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version for your computer.

I should be able to follow the second part of your instructions, but.

I am at the moment stuck on the first part because I did not know I had a flash player installed, I looked in my programmes and could not find it so I Googled it and found a webpage that told me that WIN 10,0,22,87 is the complete version number of the flash player installed on my PC.

Does that need updating and if so how do I go about updating it?

OK, I downloaded version 10 again and it was successful.

I downloaded JavaRa from your link in your signature, unzipped it, ran JavaRa.exe
picked English, removed old version,
opened JavaRa.exe again, selected search for updates Sun Java's Website.
clicked search, open webpage button.
Clicked on download Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE).

Now I have a choice of 3 files to download.
Windows Offline Installation
Windows Online Installation
Windows Kernel Installation

Shall I download all 3 files?

Strange because it told me my flash 10 download was successful.

Sorry, I added an edit just before your post.

I am not able to see the animation on the test for flash and shockwave player.
Strange because it told me my flash 10 download was successful.

But it just gave me a pop up box for a newer version 11.5 and I can now see the animation.

I cannot see any movie.

A pop up box came for web player 7 which I downloaded and I can now see the test movie.
Still not able to view youtube.

Open IE and follow these steps:
Go to Tools and then to Internet Options
Click on Advanced Tab
Scroll down to the Multimedia section and make sure the following line has a check in it. If not then check it:
"Play Animations In Webpages"
Click Apply and then OK
You will have to shutdown and restart IE to make sure the changes take affect. Try your video's then and if still not working then move on to the next steps.

Open IE and go to
Tools and then Windows Updates

First thing is to do all Critical Updates
Once that is done and if Critical Updates did not include IE update then please update your browser to IE 8
