Hello,

I am helping a friend with their computer which has recently undergone a system recovery and was modified by another friend (replacement of cd drive and added additional memory). This computer is running XP. My friend tried to do the microsoft updates on the computer, and right after she hit ok, a gray screen pops up asking for the sytem disk (which we don't have, this computer is rather old). We tried restarting, we tried accessing system recovery, and now we are trying to start it up in safe mode, to no avail.

Haha, turns out she had a floppy disk in the computer she didn't know about and didn't tell me about.
