Need to transfer existing tapes to DVD and /or CD.

What would I need to transfer my VHS movies to DVD?
Also, to transfer my cassette tape music to CD?

I have a bunch of movies and music that I would hate to get rid of.
Also from my kids and grand kids school events on VCR from camcorder.

I have media player and Sony DVD /CD RW drive.

I went to staples and they mentioned a VCR adapter to usb port,
which they didn't carry at this time.
Also a DVD decoder.

Thank-You,
John
