Hi guys,

i would like to ask your help re the problem that im encountering now.
i used to run anvirus scanner to check my pc for some viruses. i ran nod32 at first, then i also ran advance register optimized, then lastly i ran avg antivirus.

after i run nod32 and ARO, i happen to turn off my pc. when i turned it on, i still can view my desktop icons, taskbar, and start menu. Then i run avg antivirus, complete scan. after 2 hours of scanning, i turned off my laptop. when i turned it on, i can no longer view my desktop icons, taskbar and start menu. i can't even access the windows button to view the start menu. the only way i can access my applications is thru task manager.

please tell me on how ill be able to get thru with this problem... this is indeed driving me crazy..

thanks a lot in advance!

Try running the process explorer.exe from task manager. Then go into AVG, and restore anything that was deleted or quarantined when you ran the scan.

thanks for that piece of advice. i tried it but i can't open the file explorer.exe. the error message says, windows cannot find the file....

by the way, i did try system restore a while ago. but still i couldn't view my desktop icons, taskbar, and start menu.

any other workarounds, please?

Please go to the malware forum and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE.

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- then post an OTListIt log in THAT forum.
