cannot connect to isp

can anybody help. i just reinstalled windows xp pro and now i cannot connect to my isp. first tried to connect using my
wirelees adapter through a wireless router and got page could not be displayed. next i tried to connect through the
router with a cable and same thing happened. next i tried a direct link with the wire that goes into the router and still
nothing. any and all help will greatly appreciated thanks in advance
