So I reformatted my computer and got everything working, but lately my computer has been freezing ocassionally. Then 10 minutes ago, it froze, and when I tried to reboot it, it won't go past the splash screen. Did my HD die, and if it did how could I reccover the data off of it.

1. Run hard drive diagnostics: http://www.tacktech....ay.cfm?ttid=287
Make sure, you select tool, which is appropriate for the brand of your hard drive.
Depending on the program, it'll create bootable floppy, or bootable CD.
If downloaded file is of .iso type, use ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/ to burn .iso file to a CD, and make the CD bootable.

NOTE. If your hard drive is made by Toshiba, unfortunatelly, you're out of luck, because Toshiba doesn't provide any diagnostic tool.

2. Run memtest: http://www.techspot....topic62524.html

Run the test for at least 4-5 passes (possibly overnight).
