Just bought the Sims 3 game. When I tried to install it, wouldn't start. went to the Sims site to check minimum requirements and found out I didn't have enough CPU Speed and System Ram. I have XP.
I know RAM is memory. Here's what it said:

Game needs: (XP)2.0 GHzP4 processor or equivalent
I have : 2.93 GHz
Game needs: (XP) 1 GB RAM
I have:510.7 MB
How do I increase the cpu speed?
I hate the thought I bought this game and can't play it or take it back. I thought I would be fine since I have other verisons of the game and installed with no problem.

Depends on the type of memory.

Go HERE and run the Crucial online scanner.
This will give you the exact memory configuration for your system. You do not have to buy the memory from there, but write down the information and if you need assistance in purchasing the upgrade memory GTG can assist with suggestions also.

I don't know the specs of your system to recommend suitable RAM, but it's cheap nowadays.

Kingston or Crucial are good brands.

Just wanted to update you on this ongoing problem. You have always helped me with my computer problems, Hope you can help with this part.
I still can't install The Sims 3. I bought a 1GB of memory, which solved my RAM problem. However, I am still told:

CPU Speed: (XP) 2.0 GHz P4 processor or equivalent; (Vista) 2.4 GHz P4 processor or equivalent [If built-in graphics chipsets then 2.6 GHz Pentium D CPU, or 1.8 GHz Core 2 Duo, or equivalent.] I have 2.93 GHz.
Here is some of my computer info:
Gateway D915GAG Motherboard
CPU Manufacturer: GenuineIntel
CPU Family: Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.93GHz Model 3, Stepping 4
CPU Speed:2933 MHz
Is there anyway I can increase the CPU speed so I can install & play my game?
