So I was trying to run a defrag on this computer, and then I noticed that there were tons of fragments. When I looked at the report, I saw this.

So I was wondering, what are these .msp files? What is in this installer file anyway?

MSP files are known as "Windows Installer Patches" and are used to update programs in Windows. The folder I believe is just there to keep track of updates and in case you ever want to uninstall or repair the service.

Ask The Performance Team on Installer files

They are used for updates and patches. There are some in there that are orphaned due to a bad install, but very difficult to find. Recommended is to leave them.
