Xbox 360 Wired Controller Mic help

Every time I plug my mic in, it makes the earpiece recieve the audio instead of the speakers, how do I make it that the mic only serves as a mic?

I have also a problem with that. My xbox wired headset wont work with my controller, but it works with othere. What happens is it works for like 3 secs wen i plug it in and then its like the headset is out, when its really in. This happened to 2 controllers how can i fix it.
