One last thing about unchecking Windows Search in msconfig. When I uncheck it the statup selection under the General tab changes from Normal Startup to Selective Startup. I click OK and it prompts me to restart. After restarting a window pops up informing me that Windows has booted with a selective startup. If I change it back to Normal Startup in msconfig, Windows Search gets rechecked under the Startup tab. Do I have to leave it in Selective Startup mode and just ignore that popup telling me its in that mode?

Bottom of the popup window you will see a little box that says do not show or startup system configuration
Just check the box and the popup will not happen at startup again.

The popup is regular behavior... follow rshaffer's steps to disable it.

This now appears to be resolved. :)
