I'm having a problem with my Vista computer; lately it's had a problem with explorer.exe going into what I call "crashing fits," where it crashes once, and then crashes upon launch again and again. This can go on for over an hour. Also, during this time, my computer will slow down to a near crawl. It's in the midst of one now, so if my typing is off, that's why (hard to type when computer stops every couple seconds). The process will go away after a while, and then start up again for another hour or so. The oddest part is that it seems to happen every morning. Between 4 AM and about 9 AM is the worst time for these issues. I'm currently trying to run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware tool, and it's been sitting at "Preparing for Scan" for over 13 minutes. Something is seriously wrong with my computer, and I'm at my wits end. Any help would be welcome help. I'm trying to get to the administrative tools in Control Panel to find the error log, but it's not easy right now.

.. ah, after 14+ minutes Malwarebytes has finally begun it's scan. Is it supposed to take that long?

My computer:
2.5 Ghz AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+
4 GBs of DDR 2 RAM (four one gig sticks)
Windows Vista SP1
512 MB GeForce 8800GT
I tend to switch between Firefox and Safari for my web browsing, if that matters

I suggest that you start a new topic in the Malware Removal and Spyware Removal area.

Before you start a new topic click on this link --> Malware and Spyware Cleaning Guide, Please read before starting a new topic. This will give you a few preparations to make, as well as instruction for posting your OTListIt2 log.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).
