windows vista wallpapers are not changing

my desktop wallpaper no longer is displaying on the machine.

i went to personalize
- desktop background
but it isn't displaying any pictures, not even thumbnails
Everything else about the machine is operating normally, including the sidebar.
i am just able to change my background color

please help me

This happened on my sister in laws machine.

It is either a file that got deleted in windows or it is spywear/virus. Check out are maleware removal fourm.
