laptop no longer connecting to the internet for no apparent reason

internet connection was fine this morning, powered down laptop as normal and went to work, came home and started up laptop as normal but now will not connect to the internet at all even though it says it is connected to my hub and has an excellent signal, all lights are on the hub and have called my isp to confirm there are no issues there end. Have tried resting ie settings but have now run out of ideas. Anyone have any idea what may be going on????? Thanks
