Hey guys, I've been having a slew of issues of Vista, but right now the most pertinent is the issue I'm having with some seemingly corrupt files on my system.

Just recently ran 'sfc /scannow' and it stated that corrupt files were found, but the system was unable to fix them. I think that these corrupted files also have something to do with the multiple Windows Updates that have continually failed installation every single time the Automatic Update tries to do so. I ALWAYS have the "Update On System Shut Down" icon on my Shutdown Windows icon. I've even gone as far as manually downloading the updates from the Microsoft website and trying to force the Update Center to install them, but it still doesn't work.

EDIT: And yes, I've performed a multitude of spyware/virus/malware scans all resulting in nothing significant or no results at all.

I'm sorry I can't be more helpful but I just don't even know where to begin to address this problem. If anyone has ANY help on the matter that would be fantastic, as I've been struggling with this issue for a long time now.

Just this morning I performed a scan to check for disk errors and the problem is still evident.

On a side note, Windows Security Center simply doesn't open for me. When I try to open it, I get the hourglass-mouse for about 4 seconds and then nothing happens, and nothing I've done has helped correct this problem.

I guess what I want to know most is how should I go about repairing these corrupted files that apparently cannot be repaired by the Scan Now service?

Thank you in advance for any help you could provide.

Because Windows updates won't work, and Security Center won't open....

I suggest that you start a new topic in the Malware Removal and Spyware Removal area.

Before you start a new topic click on this link --> Malware and Spyware Cleaning Guide, Please read before starting a new topic. This will give you a few preparations to make, as well as instruction for posting your OTListIt2 log.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).
