After using it for awhile I decided it wasn't what I wanted so I went to Add/Remove programs in Windows XP and I uninstalled but when I logged on again, the splash screen came up and said "Driver not found, failure to load."(That's the firewall, not a Windows error). I reinstalled it thinking maybe something got messed up somewhere so I uninstalled it again and no luck. I'm having problems now that when I log on and do a normal boot, it blocks me from accessing the internet, however when I go into Safe Mode, everything is running smoothly and it looks ok. I tried to stop it from loading on normal booting but I don't see it on the Startup list in msconfig. Anyone know what I can do, cuz I'm out of ideas.

Well if there were files in Program Files, couldn't I just delete those so it would stop loading? Or does it require modifying the registry?

Sorry to hear of your problem but let's see if we can fix this for you.

Do the following steps and let us know how this works.

Download Autoruns from the link in my signature below:

1: Extract the Autoruns Zip file contents to a folder.
2: Double-click the "Autoruns.exe".
3: Click on the "Everything" tab
4: Remove any entries that mention "File Not Found" by right-clicking the entry and select Delete.
5: Go to File then to Export As.
6: Save AutoRuns.txt file to know location.
7: Attach to your next reply.


Lets see what you have in your startup

Please click on
Start and then to Run
Type in msconfig and press Enter
Now click on Startups
See if there is any entries in there for the program you are having problems with.
If so uncheck them and restart.
When you restart the System Configuration Utility window will popup.
On the bottom left there will be a box that says Do not show or run this at startup. Check that box and the pop up will not happen again.
Does these two steps help?

I seem to have figured it out but I didn't realize it until after I posted this. I looking in startup and saw piriw checked and at first I thought that looks like Piriform cuz I really didn't know what else piriw could have been but I kind of thought it was strange that CCleaner was right underneath it, I didn't think about making the list bigger. I figured it out when I went to program files and tried to delete the folder but said Piriw.exe was in use. So I went to task manager and ended that process and I deleted it and that helped. I then reinstalled it to make sure everything was ok but I uninstalled it, restarted, nothing came up besides Windows saying I wasn't connected to the internet so I just clicked repair and deleted the file not found thing using Autoruns. (That program works great too, found a lot of not found stuff.) Now it isn't shown in the startup list anymore so everything seems to be ok now (hopefully). I don't know why it couldn't do that itself with the uninstaller though. :/
