I'd recommend Teamviewer as it can bypass Vista's UAC no problem. Also has built in chat, FTP and more and is really stable.

You can even save connections for future use. Also there is a small executable for the remote end so the user doesn't need to install anything.

Or get them to install LogMeIn free edition, it would do the trick as well.
