I have a virtual copy of my old harddrive on my current mac, it is called Disk.dmg
I need to look through it to find files that I lost when the harddrive physically broke.

How do I do this? I am mostly interested in valuable pdf files that I created and would really like back.

Regards,
Christian

Hi There

Have a look at these Mac recovery boot CD's

DasBoot

or

SuperDuper

I'm not sure if any other boot CD like BartPE / Knoppix will allow you to recover.
