problems installing prototype

Basically, when i try to install prototype (a game) i get two error messages. One, then once i click OK on that one, another pops up.

The first:
[Prototype™ Error]
Error 2203.Database: C:\Windows\Installer]1c647f.ipi. Cannot open
database file. System error -2145287035.

The Second:
[Feature Transfer error]
Error: -1603 Fatal error during installation.
Consult Windows Installer Help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more information.

I've been all over the MS help support center and whatnot, to no avail.. Anyone have any idea what this might be?
