:) OK I thought there was a problem but there isn't. when you modify the MSCONFIG file this pop up will happen on restart of Windows to stop this all you have to do is check that little box on the bottom left.
This is just saying that the MSCONFIG has been modified and that you are now running in Selective Startup mode.
Nothing to worry about. I have been running mine like this for years.

Hi
Have done exactly as advised by you.
Machine started normally as usual.
No change in delay.
It still took about 5 secs to open My Computer etc.
So it is presumably not a startup problem..
Cannot be 512 mb ram as I had faced the same problem when I had 1 gb ram.
Since everything else other than the slight delay of about 5 secs is working fine I feel there is nothng to be done. Still will try to upgrade to 1 gb.
Your valuable comments please.

At this point it may just be the age of the system that is slowing everything down alittle.
5 seconds to open a program is better then a lot of people have .
Please try it for a couple of days and post back then to let us know how everything is working.
