Hey names graem first time forum user on this website and heres my problem(Specs)(from memory) Its a vista os, 32-bit, 2 gigs of ram, intel graphics card, and is updated to sp2. My problem is that when I start up my laptop I get those 4 options.
-start up normally
-Last known good configuration
-safemode
-safemode with networking
-safemode with command prompt

and no matter what I choose it will not work at all. It will just get froze in the middle of it get a blue screen(for a sec) and restart, and that with all the options. On safemode it will get stuck at (windows/system32/drivers/crcdisk.sys). I tried using the recovery disk from here http://neosmart.net/...-disc-download/ and when I use it it does not work. All I get from it is just the mouse, and thats it(nothing else but black). I really dont want to delete everything and restart it from scratch since I got some important files on it(Dont suggest me the "ubonto" idea since I got dail-up and the file is 600MB!) If there is a way to fix it please tell me!

Just did a lookup on that make.. What model is it - S10, S12, etc.

From what I could find so far, it doesn't have a cd drive in it. Is that correct?

You could try the repair utility that is being offered here. It is the same as the vista repair options that come with a vista disk just it doesn't have vista.

http://neosmart.net/...-disc-download/

You could try startup repair.

Actually I already did that, I downloaded the iso, put it onto a disk, I put it in my laptop, got it to boot from the disk and thats it, nothing. All I could see was a mouse and that's it.

I downloaded the iso, put it onto a disk,

What program did you use to burn the .iso file?

Did you expand the .iso file in order to extract the files or did you simply burn the .iso file to the cd?

What was the burning software, I don't see anything suggested.

I think Murray wanted to know the specifics.

So you downloaded and installed the ImgBurn program?

Can you take a look on the cd you burned and give me a partial list of the files on it?

Well the burned cd contains the "Bootmgr" than there are 2 folders that say "Boot" and the other "sources". In the "boot" folder it contains a "bcd" "Boot.sdi" and last "Bootfix.bin". In the sources folder it contains "boot.wim".
