Do you recieve any error message, ie: Limited or no connectivity? When you go into command prompt, and type: ipconfig /all - do you receieve an IP address? Is your DNS server and DHCP listed(you might want to simply post the results)? What happens when you type: ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew? Can you please state the model of your Linksys router. Try the following pings:
ping localhost
ping 127.0.0.1
ping [your computers IP Address]
ping [your routers IP Address]
ping [the IP of the other computer on the router]
ping [the name of the other computer]
Can you share files with the other computer?
Have you tried to simply reset your router?
What steps have you already taken to fix this issue? Can you please list them.
What operating systems are you using (on both computers)?
Go to each computer and (from command prompt) type: ipconfig /all -- do both computers have the same IP schema, ie: 192.168.0.x?
Do you have any firewalls installed?
If you recieve the 'Limited or no connectivity' message, then try some of these fixes:
Download and run the
WinsockXP Fix. Restart your computer.
If the WinsockXP Fix did not solve the problem, run the following commands in Command Prompt:
netsh winsock reset -- Restart your computer; if this did not solve the problem, reset your TCP/IP settings:
netsh int ip reset reset.txt -- Restart your computer.
