I was trying to reformat my comp today so i booted up the xp cd and i kept getting the blue screen with an error message saying check for virus on comp , remove any newly installed hard drive ot hard drive controller... So i used this program called dban and completely deleted everything off my hard drive and i tried to boot up the XP cd again but i'm still getting the blue screen with the message. I was wondering if you guys knew what the problem was here.

Thank you,
Sarath Babu

Hi,

We really need to know the message :) Its almost like telling a blind person theres a chair over there and pointing to it.

However its most probably hardware realted.
Please read This Guide on how to use Memtest. Run it untill 8 passes and report back with the results.
