Yahoo on Firefox

I am running windows xp pro and have been seeing a problem that occurs frequently. I open firefox, click on Yahoo for my email and it just run runs and run and never gets downloaded,in fact it affects my whole pc,everything is slow to open and often freezes. I often use task manager to close firefox as it won't shut down. This only happens when I am trying to download email from Yahoo, otherwise the browser works fine and there are no problem.Yesterday firefox just crashed after I tried to open yahoo email. Anyone have suggestions why this could be happening, do I need reinstall firefox? I am running Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.13) Gecko/2009073022 Firefox/3.0.13 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)
