itunes deleted?

I was listening to itunes and it asked if I wanted to update so I said yes. Then half way through the download my husband tried to open itunes and then the icon disappeared and an connapi.dll error came up and wouldn't go away even when we tried to close it. We restarted and itunes is now GONE. I tried to redownload and it says that i am not authorized to download this and to log in as administrator and try again...but I only have one account to log into and I tried searching online to make sure and nothing worked that I found... what the heck is going on?
