hello eveyone. I have a problem with vista ultimate 32 bit on my laptop. a couple of days ago my laptop was unable to startup the vista os and i just kept being put back to a screen that said my OS had been unable to load up. i managed to fix the problem using a disc that i downloaded that enabled me to use a 'repair startup problems' feature

now the computer starts up and ive been able to grab the files i wanted from it and im trying to format it and re-install vista because it isnt working properly (i think some of the files on the hdd may have been corrupted with whatever caused my problem in the 1st place)

my problem is i dont have a vista disc. ive downloaded 1 and tried to use it but im finding it impossible to make the disc bootable. the iso ive downloaded works because ive tried it on my pc (mounted it with daemon tools) and it works fine. if i could install daemon tools on my laptop i would be ok because i could re-install vista with the disc and then enter my product key which is on the underneath of my laptop, but for some reason everytime i try to run a exe file on the laptop i just see a ms dos screen open and close rapidly and then nothing.

if any can offer any suggestions on what to do id really appreciate it. thanks in advance, aaron

One comment, NEVER download vista. Always buy your OS direct from the company. That way it is legit, legal, and works correctly.

i think u guys may be misunderstanding me... the copy of vista on my laptop is fully legit (came with the laptop) but i didnt receive a vista disc. thats why i had to download one. i have a fully legit product key that i will enter as soon as ive been able to reinstall windows. ive read that recently companies stopped sending out vista discs with people that have been buying new pc's/laptops because some companies make alot of money from selling them. but people need them for situations like i am in... there must be some solution other than paying for vista again and buyin a brand new installation disc?

You should be able to contact your system manufacturer and purchase the install discs for your system from them. It's usually pretty cheap - not a whole new license key and disc - just the Vista install disc. Contact their support and see what they say.

Otherwise take it in to your local computer shop and they'll likely be able to do it for you.

I strongly recommend you get rid of the disc version you downloaded, it is a very common way for infections to be distributed.
