hello new to this i am here because i am having problems with the sound or lack of it from my pc. the board was bought on ebay a while ago and i never needed sound so i never checked it.its an ecs p4m800-m7 board with relteck 97 on board sound i have checked the bios settings re flashed the bios . put on the latest 5.???? driver from relteck. i have fit a sound card and then removed because that did not work. all the volumes are set correctly.media player works but does not give sound the speakers are checked and fine. sound properties say all devices are working. everything is there just no sound i have borrowed a usb sound dongle and that gives sound but it is crap quality.using xp home ssp 3. contacted ecs they said take it to a dealer. it has the latest bios and drivers am i missing something, there are no jumpers on the board for sound. and why does another sound card not work on it (it works on other pc).

please help. :)

I can't close the post, but will respond that the 1st place I would have you look would be in device manager for any red ! or yellow ?.
If there are any, it would seem that the main board drivers aren't installed.

always reinstall your mobo chipset drivers first...then uninstall the sound drivers and reinstall them..
also avoid ECS mobo's
