What have you tried to fix this problem so far? Are you connected to the internet? Have you checked to make sure the game is allowed access through your firewall?

It is possible the master server is just temporarily down.

It actually depends on what firewall you are using.

If you are using Windows Firewall, you can click on 'allow a program through windows firewall' in the menu.

If you are using a 3d party firewall, you should be able to allow a program through the firewall.
Check 'options' or 'firewall rules' somewhere in your 3d party software menu, or check the FAQ of their site.

Remember, if you use Steam, also allow that program (probably steam.exe) through your firewall.

Have you tried the following ?:

go to cstrike directory.
go to platform
then go to config
then delete "master game servers"

If that is of no luck, you may try to do the following steps:
1. go to this site http://css.setti.inf...e/masterserver/
2. save that file "MasterServers.vdf" where you want
3. after you saved it, copy and paste to this directory "Counter Strike 1.6/cstrike/platform/config"
4. Try it again.

Here's also a solution I found on the internet that may work ... :

go to a friend of yours who has all the servers listed ask him to mail u his full files
X:\Programfiles\Counter Strike .6\platform\config\ServerBrowser.vdf and master server.vdf too
it worked 4 me

Good luck :)
