Are you deleting or uninstalling? Are you using Revo Uninstaller?

I went through All Programs first to see if it has an uninstall, and it does not. Then I went to Control Panel to uninstall it, and it's not there, but it's in the Systems Tray.

Then I used REVO Uninstaller and it's not there either.

It's somewhere on the system because again, it's in the Systems Tray.

OK I can understand your dilemma with continuing. I did find this info on the zip program you downloaded.

The Ultimate ZIP Cracker is designed for recovering the lost passwords for several file types:

Sounds like a problem program.
If you right click on the tray icon does it give you any options at all?

Try switching the drive to a different IDE ribbon.

diabillic I'm not sure what switching the drive to a different ribbon will accomplish besides making the system unbootable.
That will not uninstall a program that has embedded itself.

I'll tell you what the options are:

Ultimate Zip
Self-Extractor
Help
About and
Close

It was Runner that gave me the Zip program when I was dealing with Azral at the time.

I was wondering, could this program be deleted by the AutoRuns Tool. Because I looked and re-looked at the Control Panel and the REVO Tool, just not showing.

In the AutoRun, if this program shows up, and I think it will, if I Uncheck it, would be the same as uninstalling it. Because its the Registry, would that work.

Also, if we are able to get this Zip program off of this PC, I'm going to give this back to Chris as of tomorrow.

What happens if you click Close

I clicked Closed and it gave me two options. The option I went with was take it permanently off of the Systems Tray, but I wonder if that totally took it off of the PC.

Better then Autoruns let's use the msconfig startup.

Lets see what you have in your startup

Please click on
Start and then to Run
Type in msconfig and press Enter
Now click on Startups
Then uncheck everything that has to do with Ultimate Zip and restart.
Let us know if this works for you.

My goodness, it's not under the StartUp or the Services tab.

How can something be on the PC but not be listed anywhere???

I'm going to see if it's under AutoRun, will get back with you ASAP.

It was under AutoRun, there were 7 files that said File Not Found, and I deleted all.

So does that mean it's off the system now.

I am totally going to uninstall all the Tools/Program I downloaded on this system because Chris needs to come and introduce himself to you Techs and become familiar with you, and you can give him these Tools/Programs to run when he is communicating with you one-on-one.

rshaffer, I'm Signing offline now, want to reconnect my PC. Will speak with you sometimes tomorrow.

Thank U!!!

Since you ran the Autoruns can you post the log so we can check it out? Of you don't remember how , here is the instructions.

1: Extract the Autoruns Zip file contents to a folder.
2: Double-click the "Autoruns.exe".
3: Click on the "Everything" tab
4: Remove any entries that mention "File Not Found" by right-clicking the entry and select Delete.
5: Go to File then to Export As or Save in some versions.
6: Save AutoRuns.txt file to known location like your Desktop.
7: Attach to your next reply.

Alright, will do all the above ... but

I totally forgot to mention this because of everything else.

After I boot up the system, after the COMPAQ log than the next screen is the Black Screen of Death. Here is what is says at the very bottom:

Maxtor: 6E040L0: Hard disk failure is imminent. Please back up your hard drive and have it replaced.

From that point, I can either hit F1 or F2, I hit F2 to get the system to finish loading.

Is there anything that can be done to stop this Black screen from stopping in that place ???

I will do the instructions for the AutoRun
