Yes, everything appears to be okay for now. Linux Puppy will work just fine as a stopgap until I get a new computer in the next month or so.

My plan is to transfer my files from this machine to my future imac via ethernet cable, if this is possible (I have done this between 2 windows machines, but never between computers with different operating systems.). If that doesn't work, I will use my external hard drive enclosure and connect via firewire, or use my flash drive, or just burn to multiple CDs.

I appreciate the follow up
