sony vaio no ethernet

hi, i have a sony vaio vgn n38e notebook, ive just had to reinstall vista due to harddrive failure, everything works fine apart from the ethernet cable connection, when i plug i it nothing, however the wireless works fine, akk updated from microsoft and ive downloaded a driver package from sony any help would really be appreciated

Have you installed the LAN driver from the sony site

can you do this
{Device Manager}
Post back the results in device manager
Start > control Panel {Vista set to classic view}> system > {Vista, device manager on left hand side} {XP hardware Tab, device manager button} > network adaptors, click on the + > post back the devices listed there
are there any ! ? or X
