reformatting hard drive from mac to pc/laptop

I have received a toshiba satellite m45 from a friend and he removed the hard drive prior to giving it away.My father is sending me a hard drive from one of his older mac laptops,what would i need to do after installing the new drive.i also do not have a recovery disk or windows 7 but i am in the process of buying it soon

once you buy your OS disk....you would install the hard drive in the computer and boot to the disk...then you would want to follow the instructions during the install to format the drive and install the OS

Also don't forget the hard drive will need to match up to the machine or you won't be able to install it - i.e. IDE or SATA?
