Hi, guys. Your friendly neighborhood dummy, again.

New problem. I have lost the network icon on the system tray and in the network connections of the control panel.

My computer is not set to recieve automatic updates so I run mine manually. Ran a custom update, saw an update for Windows XP (listed under software), installed it and immediately after installation, I was watching it, I lost the above icons. I saw the tray icon disappear, checked the network connections area and saw it gone there also. I still have internet access. Only the icons are missing.

Ran a search of Geekstogo solutions and found one fron Dec 2007, Missing network icons, with solution "How to troubleshoot missinf network connection icons in Windows Server 2003 and XP". Solution did not work.

Any suggestions?

tj
