BSoD in Safe Mode, annoying virus / malware infetion

Hi,

I am currently running XP at my job and got infected with some stupid virus that I am unsure how / where it came from. I would really like to get rid of this without having to bug the non-service dept we have. I know what I am doing with computers but the BSoD in safemode is making this difficult.

I get this virus message by symantec every 5-10 minutes as of this morning.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

[edit] just noticed that in firefox when I click on a link sometimes a new window opens up with 5-10 loading tabs of spam so I have to close the whole window. And when I do a search in Google every once and a while a 2nd tab opens up with a spam site similar to what I've searched for but doesn't override the original tab.

I suggest you go to the Malware Removal and Spyware Removal Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post the reguested logs in THAT forum. If you are unable to run any of the tools then start a new topic in the malware forum and put this in the subject line...I am unable to run any malware tools

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).
