Windows keeps freezing up and I have to shut down all applications

I didn't have problems before
I installed latest java and I started to run into issues
can I download a copy of windows

I'm checking to see if I have a windows xp cd
If not what else can I do


Nop no original windows cd handy ..I bought it from a store installed but didn't receive the cd this was years ago

No, you can't download Windows.
You can ask around. Borrowed Windows CD will do.

i have seen malware thats sole purpose is to hide real malware from scanners but they are rare. another possibility could be a harddrive error. these can cause all sorts of funney things to happen. i like using ontrack's easy recovery to do my harddrive checks because it gives you a full readout of any i/o errors but i am not sure how much it costs now and broni probibly knows of somthing simmilar and free
