[caveat]

Hello. I bought a Toshiba USB External Hard Drive (HDDR320E04XW) and attached it to a USB port. Then I formatted the drive to ntfs. This drive had(has) backup software which I did not want, hence the format. However, in properties I see 98mb used and 297GB unused. So, I am unsure if the software is still on the drive. I should have uninstalled the software first, but didn't. I don't know if there is anything that can be done about that.

The real problem comes when I try to "Safely Remove Hardware". In a matter of seconds, I get a BSOD. I attached external a number of times and each time, upon trying to safely remove, I get the same BSOD.

I installed Blue Screen Viewer and find I have a ntoskrnl.exe problem that I do not know how to handle. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
