Hello, i recently set up a server and every time i logged off of it, it disconnected from internet list. So then i kept making more of them, and now they're shutting themselves down. Take a look for yourself. Scroll down till u see "CL_SHUTDOWN" If any one has a solution please responde i would greatly appreciate it.

What type of internet connection is reccomended for this? I would think somthing around 3-5Mb/sec upload speed for two or three 20-30 slot servers?

If so, coud anyone give me an idea of what ISP I should go with that gives this much upload speed? I have looked on google alot but I am unable to find one :whistling: Could anyone help?

No i am not. What more info do you need? Because my friend ahs a dedicated server, and i copied his config, changed only the passwords and IP, and it still didnt work.

Would having my external IP in the config file do anything special? Cause i thgought the router IP wouldnt work so i put in the external IP.

Well it depends on where you live Mediadirect. If you live in an area that offers verizon FIOS they offer two 2mbps upload and one 5mbps upload speeds but its not available everywhere. If it was available here I would of already had it.

They offer these speeds...
Up to 5 Mbps/2 Mbps
Up to 15 Mbps/2 Mbps
Up to 30 Mbps/5 Mbps

If you had a cable company with 1mbps upload you could open a decent server of about 14-16 people if noone else is using your line for anything. So in otherwords the connection is basically dedicated to the server only. You can browse the internet and host without any problems but when you start to download or upload files while running a server it will get utterly laggy and unplayable and the pings will rise aswell as LAG. If you like to browse the net alot and download large files while hosting a game, then opening a server from home is not a good idea. You could get away with downloading and hosting at the same time if you lower the clients by alot and you cap your download speeds to a lower level.

A Full T1 line is still pretty expensive today for the home user and you can get cable from some providers that is faster than a T1 is overall. A T1 is dedicated though and you do get lower ping times to servers and people joining your server would get lower pings. Verizons FIOS blows A T1 away though because its basically fiber to the home but its actually quite cheap.


For two to three 20 to 30 person servers you will need alot of bandwidth. A T1 will only handle about 16 clients very very well for cod or cod2 but you could possibly get by with 18-20 man TOPS!

Id say 5mbps upload is needed for two 26 man servers minimum for cod..

A T3 connection is way way to much and is for businesses / schools not for the residential user..

The config file you posted here is blank so thats why I said that. There is not enough information for me to even answer a question. I cannot help you if its blank the way you asked me.. Is that all that was in the console when you copied it? IF so its not reading a config file at all and something is messed up.. It should show alot of different commands and text in the console.. Look at jesus's post it should be similar to his.. Thats the more info im talking about..

I dont know where you live and all so you need to find out yourself. What is your cable company choices around there? The top major cable companies offer atleast a 1mbps upload speed service.

The Bell Dsl companies like Bell south etc do not offer a very high speed of service yet atleast in my area. If you could get business DSL or something similar to it that would be a good choice and it shouldnt be to expensive.

It all depends on your price range also..

Sometimes you can get a T1 line from your local telephone company but its not worth it in my opinion when you can get cable faster (or close to a t1's upload) than T1 nowadays.

A T1 line isnt cheap and a FULL T1 is ridiculous in price.

J!nx wow just wow I have no idea what you are doing. LOL. I have never seen that before in my life. I have never seen that many instances come up on the same console screen ever.

Seems like to me you are restarting the server.

How in the world did you get it to restart that many times?

How exactly are you trying to open the server?

What I dont understand is how its only showing up in local when you dont have all of the game instance commands showing up at all in the console.. You shouldnt even be seeing any LOCAL servers at all if it keeps restarting and is missing commands. With the little info you gave me all that I see is that your server keeps restarting and your config file is bad.. See what I mean thats why I said if you were being funny.. This is weird. I still think your messing with me.

All that I see with the 30 something instances you posted is that the server restarts I dont see any game commands and I dont see any FS_Startup, game files or anything being executed.
Anyway you are suppost to open the ports using port forwarding if you have a router.

Are you opening the server within the game or using a Shortcut to the game by using the target line?? Make sure you have internet set to dedicated also after you look at your config file and settings.

This is all that I can help you on as I have very little info about what you have done.

Again this is what I think is wrong with the very little info I was given.


I think your config file is messed up somehow really bad when you copied your friends..

If you correct the config file and it still restarts, reinstall the game and once again make another config file.
