computer will not go on the net

my home computer was working great last night, i shut it down and this morning it would not go on the net. called my provider and the ran a test and the net works fine im on my laptop right now but would like to use my PC. the provider even went on to my computer and they told me it looks like my anti virus or something corrupted windows or whatever runs the system. im not a big computer guy so any help would be greatly appreciated.
